Taken from my year-long Dartmoor woodland project, the first selection shows the process of John Williamson's creation of a traditional Devon stave basket. From choosing and splitting the timber used for the ties and handles through the shaping of the individual staves to the final fabrication of the finished basket. These baskets were originally used for the gathering and carrying of farm produce and John is probably the last remaining maker of them.
Next sequence is the work involved in making a traditional hazel hedge used as boundary visions on agricultural land.
